Frequently Asked Questions

  • NOVELTEA is the world’s first premixed and ready to drink Alcoholic Tea. It contains 11% alc by volume, just like a glass of wine and slightly more than an average cocktail.
  • It is created through a cold brewing process, which eliminates more tannins and extracts more of the tea’s natural sweetness.

How is NOVELTEA made?

  • We source the finest teas from the most exciting tea cultures around the globe, making sure local tea plantations are paid fairly.
  • The finest tea is combined with matching botanicals and spirits within the cold brewing process.
  • NOVELTEA is created in small batches and cold-brewed using loose leaf tea before being bottled.

How does NOVELTEA taste like?

NOVELTEA currently has three flavours inspired by the world’s most exciting tea cultures. To get the perfect tasting experience, serving it either cold over ice or warm as normal tea is advised.

  • The Tale of Earl Grey is a cold-brewed Earl Grey tea combined with London Dry Gin, distilled using Juniper berries, coriander and a range of other botanicals. Tastes slightly spicy, a little bit floral and with just a hint of citrus, perfectly complemented by our traditional London Dry Gin.
  • The Tale of Moroccan Mint is a cold-brewed Green gunpowder tea with spearmint, dried lemongrass, dried apple, and white Caribbean rum. Tastes like the famously sweet yet fresh Moroccan green mint tea, with just a hint of apple.
  • The Tale of Oolong is a cold-brewed Oolong tea with mango, further botanicals, and Scotch Whisky. Tastes Rich and fragrant with floral traces of jasmine and rose petals.

How to serve NOVELTEA?

Is NOVELTEA suitable for vegans?

  • You may get surprised by hearing how many of your favourite products are not vegetarian or vegan. Do you know that most Wines, for example, are not vegan because they get filtered by fish bladder and clarified by milk protein or egg white during filtration? Strange, we know!
  • Don’t worry, that’s not the case for NOVELTEA. NOVELTEA does not use or contain any animal-related substances before, during and after the production and is suitable for all types of vegan and vegetarian diets.

What ingredients does NOVELTEA contain?

The Tale of Earl Grey:

  • Black Tea: Leaves of the Camellia Sinensis plant, dried and fully oxidised to allow a deep, rich flavour to develop.
  • Bergamot:  Bergamot orange is a fragrant citrus fruit.  Essential oils extracted from its skin give Earl Grey its trademark floral flavour.
  • London Dry Gin: A high-quality gin flavoured with Juniper berries, Cinnamon, Lemon, Cardamom, Ginger, Coriander, Angelika and Lavender

The Tale of Oolong:

  • Oolong Tea: Leaves of the Camellia Sinensis plant, dried and partly oxidised for a delicate, naturally sweet flavour.
  • Mango: A soft, sweet fruit, chosen to enhance the natural sweetness found in our Oolong Tea blend.
  • Honey Flavour: The slightly floral sweetness draws attention to the natural honey flavours already present in our Oolong tea.
  • Scotch Malt Whisky: Distilled in the Scottish Highlands, the soft, smoky notes of Malt Whisky round off our Tale of Oolong to perfection.

The Tale of Moroccan Mint:

  • Green Tea: The leaves of Camellia Sinensis in their purest, un-oxidised state, giving floral, fruity and ‘green’ notes.
  • Spearmint: Sweeter than peppermint, spearmint is found throughout the mountains of Morocco and brings the refreshing, aromatic punch unique to Mint Tea.
  • Lemongrass:  A key ingredient in Asian cuisine, lemongrass adds a sharp, citrusy taste, without the bitterness of the lemon.
  • Apple: A natural companion to mint, apples bring a sweetness that helps to balance out the sharpness of both the mint and lemongrass.
  • Caribbean White Rum: Made from sugar cane, the fruity, spicy notes of white rum add a welcome kick to our Tale of Moroccan Mint.

Is NOVELTEA a full-strength spirit?

  • No, NOVELTEA creates a new drinks category, that of Alcoholic Teas, and we recommend serving it either refrigerator chilled over a few ice cubes or warmed up in a teapot. There’s no need to mix it with other tea/tonic or a spirit.
  • NOVELTEA also has a lower alcohol concentration than spirits, with 11% abv.

How long can I keep NOVELTEA for?

  • If unopened, we recommend consuming it within two years. Once opened the bottle should be consumed within 4 weeks.
  • NOVELTEA should be kept in the fridge for a perfect serving, however, it does not require it. Any cool and dry place out of direct sunlight is suitable for storage.

Why deserves NOVELTEA it's Premium Title and Price Tag?

NOVELTEA’s price is impacted by the following factors:

  1. The cost of sourcing the highest quality loose leaf tea, botanicals, and spirits.
  2. NOVELTEA is using loose leaf tea, carefully sourced from around the world, then cold-brewed for hours and balanced with bespoke high-quality spirits. Years have gone into Research, Sourcing and Product Development and we are still today aiming for perfection from batch to batch.
  3. The alcohol duty that as an alcoholic drink NOVELTEA is not exempt of. We are continuously reducing our global footprint and work as sustainable as possible. In particular as a start-up, that’s difficult but not impossible. Our goal for 2020 is to not use any plastic in our packaging, reuse carton transport materials even more often than we already do and to give back to charitable sustainable projects.

Why is it called NOVELTEA?

NOVELTEA doesn’t come from novelty but rather from bringing something new (novel) to the industry through the use of an original (novelty) ingredient – tea. NOVELTEA

Why do two bottles of the same flavour have different colours and tastes?

  • The colour and flavour of NOVELTEA may vary between batches. This is because we’re only using carefully sourced loose-leaf tea which can vary in colour and flavour profile.
  • Furthermore, we’re always improving our formula to make sure you receive the best NOVELTEA experience.
