Every year, England dedicates a week to one of its most revered institutions – the beloved Afternoon Tea…
But whilst we love tradition, at NOVELTEA we’re all about adding a contemporary twist to the proven classics. Just like our alcoholic teas are an entirely new take on the nation’s most-loved drinks, we wanted to celebrate Afternoon Tea Week in our own unique style… by tearing up the rule book and turning the typically refined dining experience into something a little more adventurous!
The only thing better than going on an adventure is being able to share the experience – so we got in touch with The Florist. They’re are all about creating a feast for the senses, and having chosen NOVELTEA to be a part of their Asian-inspired afternoon teas, we knew they’d put on a fantastic spread once we reached the summit!
Climb Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain, and serve England’s highest high-tea at 978m.
The challenge was taken up by intrepid adventurers from both NOVELTEA and The Florist, joined by eager bloggers and food-writers. And although they were laden down with all the high-tea ingredients, not to mention a full dining set, we’re pleased to say that everyone who set out from the bottom made it to the top!
After 4 hours of climbing, the hikers finally reached the top of Scafell Pike, and were treated to some spectacular views…. of clouds, mist and drizzle! It might have driven our photographer nuts, but to be honest what’s more British than standing on the top of a mountain and seeing nothing but grey!
Fortunately, all the colour we needed was provided by The Florist’s stunning high-tea. The team tucked into beautifully-presented dishes inspired by Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arranging, including bao buns, sushi and Nutella doughnuts – all washed down with NOVELTEA Tale of Oolong.
Refreshed and re-fuelled, the team packed up and began their descent, spurred on by a break in the clouds and some very welcome sun.
All-in-all, a fantastic day was had by everyone, and even if the views from the top weren’t quite what we hoped for, it was certainly an entirely new experience for everyone involved, and that’s what we’re all about!
